After studying the British postal regulations, Reginald Bray (1879-1939) began sending strange objects through the post unwrapped - bowler hats, bicycle pumps, his dog and eventually himself. He continued his experiments with mail that was addressed cryptically, with pictograms or to non-existent places - making himself perhaps the world's first mail artist.
